How to choose a speaker mount

• Model-specific or universal. Sonos Era 100, Era 300 and One have dedicated mounts shaped around the speaker body. A universal bracket screws into the speaker's threaded insert and fits speakers from different brands.
• Wall or floor. A wall bracket frees up the shelf and lifts the speaker to ear level. A floor stand needs no drilling and suits speakers you move now and then — surround rear speakers, for example.
• Load rating. Check the speaker's weight: a couple of kilos is enough for small ones, larger speakers call for a 5–7 kg model.
• Aim. A tilting, swivelling bracket points the speaker at the listener — it matters most high up on a wall.
• Soundbar. A soundbar mount fits between the TV bracket and the TV, so the soundbar moves with the screen.
