How to choose a projector mount
- Load rating. Look up the projector's weight on the manufacturer's data sheet and leave a margin. Home and office projectors usually need a 10–15 kg mount; large installation projectors call for a 25–45 kg model.
- Drop from the ceiling. A short mount works when the projector already sits at the right height under the ceiling. For a high or suspended ceiling, pick a model with a telescopic, length-adjustable pole.
- Universal adapter. The screw holes under a projector sit differently on every model. The sliding arms of a universal mount fit most projectors — compare their reach with the hole spacing on yours.
- Tilt and swivel. Tilting and turning let you line the picture up with the screen without re-hanging the projector. For a projector hung upside down, the picture is flipped in its menu.
- Colour. A white mount blends into a light ceiling; black suits a home cinema with a dark one.
Installation
Fix the projector to a load-bearing ceiling or joist, using anchors that suit the material — a suspended ceiling tile will not carry the weight. On some models the cables run inside the pole, which keeps the ceiling tidy.
