How to choose a scanner
- Flatbed scanner. Books, photos and fragile originals go on the glass — a good fit if you scan little but want quality.
- Sheet-fed scanner. Pulls the sheets through itself and scans stacks quickly, often both sides at once. Handy for digitising invoices and contracts.
- Portable scanner. Small and light, it goes with you for quick scans of single pages.

Frequently asked questions
Does a scanner need a computer? Most scanners work with a computer or phone. Some portable models save files straight to a memory card — the product page says so.
