Why a dash cam
A dash cam records continuously and overwrites the oldest footage. In a collision the G-sensor locks the current clip so it is not overwritten. The recording helps establish what happened in an accident, and a camera with parking mode keeps watch over the car while you are away.
What to look at
- Number of cameras. A front camera covers the road ahead, a front-and-rear set also those behind you; a three-channel model also films the cabin — useful for taxis and shared cars.
- Picture quality. Higher resolution and a sensor with good low-light sensitivity help read number plates at dusk.
- GPS. Adds speed and location to the video and enables speed camera alerts.
- Wi-Fi. Footage downloads to your phone without removing the memory card.
- Parking mode. Needs constant power — a dedicated power adapter provides it and protects the car battery from draining.

Frequently asked questions
Are dash cams allowed in Estonia? Yes, recording your own drive is allowed. When sharing footage of other people publicly, mind the personal data protection rules.
Which memory card should I use? One made for constant rewriting (High Endurance) and no larger than the maximum the camera supports — it is stated in the product description.
