Cool bags, a cooler backpack and an electric cool box for picnics, the beach and road trips. A bag holds the cold with ice packs; an electric cool box cools by itself from the car's 12 V socket.

Cool bag or electric cool box
- Cool bag. Light, soft and foldable. Insulated walls hold the cold for hours with ice packs and pre-chilled food inside — the best choice for a day out.
- Cooler backpack. The same insulation with your hands free: cycling to the beach, walking to the lake.
- Electric cool box. A thermoelectric box that runs from the car's 12 V socket and from 230 V mains at home. A switch selects cooling or warming — in winter lunch arrives warm.
What to look at
- Capacity. 10 l takes a couple of bottles and sandwiches, 18–28 l a family picnic, 40 l the supplies for a weekend road trip.
- Ice packs. A cool bag does not make cold, it keeps it. The more ice packs and the colder the food going in, the longer it stays cool.
- Lining. A water-resistant or welded lining wipes clean; a removable one can be taken out and washed.
- Carrying. Shoulder strap, handle or backpack straps — pick by how far the bag travels from the car.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a cool bag stay cold? It depends on the insulation, the number of ice packs and whether the bag sits in the sun. A manufacturer's figure is usually given for an ice pack of a stated size — see the product description.
Can I leave the cool box on with the engine off? A thermoelectric cooler draws current all the time and can drain the car battery during a long stop. Switch it off overnight or plug it into 230 V mains.
